Rantepao overview

The small town of Rantepao in Indonesia has been running as a fairly successful tourist town since the 1970s, when it first opened its doors to the tourist trade. Its main draw is its reputation for being the cultural centre of the ethnic group known as the Toraja. Everything in this town is related to the Toraja people, with hotels, restaurants and numerous attractions all dedicated and run by Toraja. A whole host of tourism offices are based here and as long as you are interested in the Toraja people, then you will enjoy your visit. Those seeking a little more variety may wish to simply wander through here as part of a longer journey, but only after tasting Toraja food and staying a night in a Toraja hotel of course!
