Parapat overview

The small Indonesian town of Parapat fails to attracts a wealth of sightseers due to its somewhat non-descript atmosphere. Contrary to what its visitor numbers will tell you, the town enjoys a pleasant setting on the banks of Lake Toba. Many who visit choose to take the short crossing to Samosir Island. Parapat’s primary function is one of a transit hub where ferry passengers simply wait for their crossing and fail to explore the town itself but those who choose to stay a little longer will soon regret taking pity on the sleepy area as there is little to do here except wait for the next ferry.
