Cirebon overview

Cirebon Travel Guide
Those who enjoy a good shrimp should not miss Cirebon while on Java. The name quite literally means ‘river of shrimps.’ And it is also known as Kota Udang or the ‘city of enormous shrimps’. Away from the harbour and its bountiful shrimps is the town square where the Grand Mosque stands made completely from wood in the Javanese style. Not far away is the small village of Trusmi which has become quite famous for the batiks which it produces. Directly southwest of Cirebon is Mount Ciremay, a volcano which is over 10,000 feet tall and on whose slopes volcanic springs and sulphur vents are to be found. No trip to Cirebon would be complete without a delicious seafood meal and inevitably shrimp is available in every restaurant.
